Has anyone had any success with holding the announcements to the end of Round Table rather than early on the agenda? How about allowing announcements only for changes to information published in handouts, the newsletter, or web page?
While we're not there yet, we should be getting to a stage where it is no longer necessary to have a meeting like Round Table to put out oral or written information about upcoming programs and events. Rather, that information should be available via web page or e-mail to at least someone in every unit 24/7, once it is developed. (The trick is getting the information together--and I'm guilty of thinking of meetings as information deadlines, and putting things together at the last minute to announce at the meeting.) Once we change that mindset (meeting as sole source of important information), we'll have to have some other good reason for leaders to come to Round Table.
