At 04:19 PM 12/31/79 (you must have had the same problems I've got with the
ISP not moving to a better server...we are in the process of doing so over
at the USSSP), Tim Faughnan wrote and asked:

>Does anyone know if there are still staff positions available?
Yes, I know for a fact that the Southern and Western Regions still have
quite a few (volunteer) staff positions free, Tim. There has been some
folks whom unfortunately have used the Supreme Court decision as an excuse
to "signdown" from Jamboree duty. While I'm only personally aware of the
Southern and Western Regions, I am quite sure that the Northeast and
Central Regions are also facing the same deal. It was hardest hit in the
Western Region, however.

Not knowing where you are posting from, I would strongly encourage you and
anyone else out there willing to work at the Jamboree for up to 22 days, to
please contact your Council's Scout Executive or staff member in charge of
the Jamboree in your Council. He or she will have an application which you
must complete and which must be approved by the Council Scout Executive
before you are even considered.

You must agree to also pay the full Jamboree participant fee, agree to
undergo a physical exam using the BSA's exam form, and of course, agree to
wear correctly the BSA uniform and all insignia. This coming Jamboree
promises to be one of surprises. LOTS of surprises. So if you're thinking
about serving on staff and fear that "it's too late," think again please
and do contact your Council.

No, the BSA does NOT accept applications online, and no, you cannot
"circumvent" your Council and file your application with the BSA's Jamboree
Service. Such applicants are referred back to their Council and usually
don't get picked.
