Hi all,
I am looking for a set of white-tail deer antlers that you may have laying
about in your garage or are planning to sell at a yard sale or something.
Please e-mail me if you have a set or can get one that you'd be willing to
donate to our newly-formed ceremonies team.
Our team is just getting off the ground, and we are spending the summer
developing costumes and regalia based on the Powhatan culture which existed
in eastern Virginia in the 1600-1700 era. The white-tail deer was a very
important component of the culture.
For those of you who hunt...if you are successful in your endeavors this
fall, we'd be happy to take the hide and/or antlers off your hands
(white-tail deer or other mid-east coast fauna only, as we want to be as
authentic as possible)! Or, if turkey hunting is more your bag, we could
use the tail feathers; the Powhatans used turkey feathers instead of eagle
feathers for their head-dresses.
Of course, we'll pay postage, etc., or if you're close enough (within a few
hundred miles of D.C.), we'll come pick them up.
Any help you could give us would be most appreciated.
YiS,
Pete Farnham
