Pete,
This is one of the most common errors in wearing OA items on the uniform.
All members of the OA should wear the OA ribbon, or Founder's Award ribbon if
so entitled, but the lodge flap patch is optional. Since the patch is sewn
(glued?) on there's no problem; however, most people forget to put the ribbon
back on after taking the shirt out of the wash.
So, it's not ribbon and/or flap patch; the correct way is ribbon, with or
without the flap patch.
