The answer to this question is one that the entire list can benefit from.
When our Troop traveled by plane, a local travel agent handled securing
tickets. As I understand it, with groups over a certain size the agent can
seek "offers" of the lowest prices from the airlines. The bottom line is
that I combed the Internet for months for lowest ticket prices and the local
agent got them for $50 (each) less than the lowest price I could find.
