I scanned some on the website and I'm dubious especially after the
experience in camp this week. We have an ADD kid in our troop.
According to his grandmother he is to be taken off of it for one week
every year. She had to pick the week of camp (I think it was
deliberate). Within three days the kid was totally out of control and
violent, prone to attacks of sudden unwarranted rage. When she was
called to come get him from camp, for reasons other than this, the first
thing she did was break the week and give him a Ritalin dose. Did she
choose that week so she wouldn't have to deal with him? I don't know.
I do know this. As of our next parent counseling session, I will be
advising her that if he wants to go on any other outings, he will have
his medication with him or he will not be allowed to go. I can't have
him endangering other campers and leaders.
