Hey all,
Today, I finished my ticket for Woodbadge. I had sent some things
ahead, but I carefully reconstructed it all and have put it all into one
final book. It should be in the mail to Bob Mom-Deb by tomorrow am. As I
finished putting the last page of my ticket (item 8B... As a Trainer...) I
realized I had not come to any conclusions. I liked what I said enough to
send it to you. I wrote it in humility, so please read it that way...

In retrospect...
If there were any one word I could associate with my Woodbadge
experience, it would be "phenomenal". Make that "Ultra-phenomenal"!!! I met
some really sharp people who befriended me without question. I learned from
some of the finest instructors in the land. But most of all, I became part
of something much greater and more far reaching than I could ever be. Troop
1, Bobwhite Den, Camp Gilwell; how could I ever forget? The chill at night,
warm summer days, Bob Mom-Deb's ready smile, Bob-Jill's infectious
happiness, Bob-Matt's creativeness, Bob-Chris' jocularity and evenness,
Bob-Jane's kinetic energy, Bob-Sherri Lynn's wonderment, Bob-Mel's eagerness
to learn and to write them thar tickets; where else could I have experienced
all that. I brought with me two flamingoes (Florida Bobwhites, if you
will!), an inflatable Gator, a friend, and a determination to learn and have
the most fun I could have. I cheerfully gave my Fla Bobwhites to the most
deserving counselors I have ever met (Deb Seachrist and Michael Brackney)
and the Gator went to the ever deserving Madam Cubmaster (Cathy Griffey).
However, I took home a better friend (Ok, all he can do is hoot), a fire to
forge the best classes I could, and enough memories and lessons to last me
several lifetimes.
I tip my campaign hat to Madam Cubmaster and her illustrious staff
every time I teach a class. You gave me the tools I needed at the time I
needed them to be a far more effective trainer. Most of all you gave me the
Bobwhite Den and Bob Mom-Deb! I will always be in your debt: you are always
welcome to share my campfire!
