John,
First of all I would think that there is no problem with using personal
tents for troop camping. We do it all the time. The troop only has 4 tents
and they are basically reserved for new scouts or parents accompanying the
trip who are without tents.
We never take tents to Summer Camp because they are provided at camp.
They are set up in mid June, used for eight weeks and the taken down in
August.
