In our troop, each Scouter makes his own choice. I tell the Scout to call me
"Jim," and have done so ever since I was a Webelos Leader. When an adult
refers to another one, it is as "Mr. (last name)."
I want the Scout to respect me, but I want to earn it by my actions, not by
the artificial device of demanding "Mister" when they address me. If I do my
job right, the respect will come. If not, it is time for the troop to find
another Scoutmaster.
