Very well said. I believe the Scouts are responsible for working the Eight
Methods of Scouting. Sir Names would come under the Adult Association Method. If
a Scout is to trust the adult as the Master of Scouting, he must first respect
him as a person of experience and wisdom. The Scout should see adults as mentors
who are giving back the knowledge of living with in the Scout Oath and Law.
However, the Adult Association Method is a two way street, we adults must trust
that the Scouts knows how to live by the Scout Law and Oath, then become the
compassionate teachers and guides only when it clear that they don't, not
before. We must gain the respect of the Scouts as their mentors and role models.
I like the way Bob shows respect for the Scouts growth and maturity by treating
and excepting them more as an adult. Not to many of us do that these days. Great
advice, Thanks Bob.
