Hi Kevin -
For the camping trip last weekend I was grub master. Each meal was a one
pot meal (if you do not count dessert for dinner).
Breakfast - Mountain Man Breakfast [Cook bacon in Dutch Oven with onions,
add cooked cubed potatoes and eggs. Cook until eggs are done in middle.]
Lunch - Beef/barley soup [Had stock bones. Cooked until meat was done. Took
out meat/bones & cleaned/cut up. Skimmed stock. Add onions, carrots,
potatoes & barley. Cook until carrots done.]
Dinner - Pot roast in Dutch Oven. I cooked 2 one pork, one beef [Braise
roast with seasonings on choice. Add onions celery and a little water. Cook
for 30 minutes. Add carrots & potatoes. Cook until meat, carrots and
potatoes are done.]
We had dump cake for dessert (I made enough for the troop. A total of 4
dutch ovens worth.)
Needless to say for the 9 of us, I used 15 lbs of potatoes, 4 lbs of
carrots, 4 lbs of onions plus the 7 lbs of meat.
However, no one went hungry!
Yours in Scouting
Michael
