I would like to know how much success people have had electing an ASPL who then automatically becomes an SPL (12 month commitment)?

Potential problems I can see:

1) The troop does not get to have a SPL for 1 year or longer, even if they wanted one.

2) Scouts who are in sports or marching band could probably not commit for 1 year.
