The whisperlite whether the multifuel international or just the
whisperlite is an excellent stove, not one, in my opinion intended for
scout use. The Primus Light Stove, know referred toas the Yellowstone
Light is an excellent stove, i have not used the base stove, but assume it
runs similarly to the light. they both run off of a butane/propane
mixture. the whisperlite can be dangerous especially with young scouts if
they don't have adequate training. The MSR rapidfire runs off of just
butane canisters which makes it a little safer, and has the same design as
the whisperlite.
