The "Official Notice " was from some group calling themselves the, oh, hell,
I forget, Office of the Chief Counsel or some such, implying that they were
an official group, and then going on to rant about how homosexuals were going
to take over our churches if the BSA lost its lawsuits against gay
members/leaders. It's a private group somewhere in the southland.

In its original net version, it asked for money as well as for letters of
support to the BSA. It has been floating around awahile and is laughable to
anyone who has a shred of critical thinking ability. However, anyone with a
knee-jerk reflex anytime someone waves the bloody shirt of "homosexuals in
our churches," to badly mix metaphors <G>, will rise up in his chair
growling, and fire off that letter faster than you can say, "Don't ask, don't
tell."

It's phobias that drive these people, and like most phobias they have no
rational origin and are only maintained by their owners because they're
self-justifying. Listen carefully to what they say-- they're afraid of gay
people because, well, because they're afraid. Some day, I fervently hope, it
will be the norm that people don't ask because they don't care, and that the
only question asked will be, "Do you hate any group, racial, origin, or
sexual-orientated?" Affirmative response will be grounds for denial of
membership in the armed forces, the Scouts, or any other semi-public group
who purports to teach citizenship.
