These are good, but the advancement committee/chair ought to be looking at
overall district advancement. This includes not only Eagles, merit badges, and
adult recognition, but Cub Scout advancement and Boy Scout advancement at lower
ranks 9plus Venturing, if included in your district). These are good
indicators about the health of the overall program in the district. Perhaps
its my own personal soap box, but Cub Scout advancement is, or ought to be, a
leading indicator of the state of the Boy Scout program in 3-5 years. If
opportunities for Webelos to Scout transition are lost because of loss of boys
in Cub Scouts, we're shooting the overall program in the foot.
