Assistant Scoutmaster Needed

Laura Hix (BSATroop374GSTX@AOL.COM)

Mike suggest the family meeting of MOMS and DADS. Also, a good resource is
your CO, Tell them you need help. Let them suggest someone and that way
every base is also covered. The leadership is out there, you just have to
dig deep enough to find it. (I live in a very rural area also) Our SM and
one other ASM have had boys in our Troop but for the past 3(SM) and 6(ASM)
they haven't. I tell the boys when they start acting up and being
disrespectful, to think about their two leaders with no children in the Troop
that they are there because they WANT to be, not because they "have" to be.
That in and of itself deserves respect from my point of view. My point
being, that your leadership may not necessarily come from within, but you can
and might find good quality leadership outside of the troop. But as Mike
stated, the families are the first step (even extended family) Someone may
have an aunt or uncle somewhere that would love to help. JMO
