A Great Scout Leader Join the Scoutmaster in the Sky last month. I will miss
him greatly. I thought many of you would like to hear a tribute that was
made to him...

Who can find a hero these days?
Who can say there by the grace of God goes I.
Who can find a man of honor, who stood up for what he believed and lived the
example he set?
Who will follow in these footprints and say I will carry the load left
behind?
Who else is there to teach young boys the way of truth?
The way of good morals?
The way of trustworthiness?
Who else will give the openway for others by giving up hours of endless,
selfless caring, and support?
To Bruce, my friend, my Scouting Mentor, my co-worker in scouting, May your
life and your example to us not go unnoticed. We will miss you terribly. But
as we walk down the scouting trail, we will see the signs you left along the
way. We say thank you for all you have given and all you are and all you
stand for.
Why God chose to take you in the prime of your life, we will never know. But
this we do know. God has made our lives richer because our paths crossed and
intertwined.
May each and every scout who has heard you lecture them on the virtues of
being trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient,
cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent; remember your words and make
them a guide by which to base their lives.
Dixie, thank you for being the supportive wife all these years when scouting
took Bruce away from the home and the plans and activities you would have
much rather done with him. Thank you for being the wind beneath his wings,
which allowed him the freedom to sore like the eagles and nest among the
young lads who needed direction, to give examples to the leaders and to set
standards to help make the Blue Elk District the best Boy Scout District in
the Nation. Not only did you give him up to the boys but also to the training
of new leaders, the many years of district meetings, and endless weekends of
campouts, camporees, Summer Camps, Klondike Derbys, etc.
To you Dixie, to you my friend and fellow scouter, Bruce, to you Brad and
Lori, and to your families, This is my tribute. Thank you. We suffer your
loss with you. I remember all the times Bruce would say; "Can I ask you to do
a favor". I could never say "No". He always had such a way of letting you
feel important and capable to do your best. May his legacy live on.

Hi! Everyone!!!
I have trying to deal with this for sometime. It has been like one of the
night hikes, which I can still see so very clearly. Our guiding light right
up front showing the boys a whole new world and letting them learn for
themselves, how to reachout and touch heaven and stars. Even giving the
time for some of us slow leaders to catch up-when we couldn't keep in step!
That trail was very dark like I pointed out, until I realized he had been
prepared. He had set an example for all of us to follow. He followed the
teachings of our Lord, the ideals of the scouting oath and the honor of his
mother and the virtue of a father with a BIG family.
In closing-knowing him as a young tribesman, then later as close friend, I
always saw his heart in his love for all boys.
Wayne, Louise and everyone, thank you for this tribute letter it was
beautiful and it means alot to me.
