This poem was written by a 14 year old young man in my troop. Joe's sister
died of complications of alcoholism when she was in her early 20's. I
thought it might make a nice Scoutmaster's minute. The following is his
text:
This is a poem about drinking but its not about driving. There are to many
people in this world destroying there lives from alcoholism. So speak out
and tell the people you love how what they do can destroy lives too. I
learned this 15 months ago when my sister died.
So little time
By: Joe V.
Time goes by I wait
Time goes by I'm too late
I tried to show my loving care
But I'm standing here breathing the cold air
I didn't like what I was seeing
I thought I didn't love you for what you were being
I did not know time would end
I thought your wounds would finally mend
But now your in heaven from Gods will
Through my body goes a cold cold chill
My life now will never be the same
I now feel so much shame
Because I was never able to tell you
The three little words I Love you
You still are with me where ever I go
You can still watch me as I grow
To all the people who do not speak and just pout
Speak out now cause you never know when time will be out.
Please send this out to all your friends so they may spread these few words
of wisdom to their friends.
