It occurs to me, the-collective-you could probably use real-life here as
a demo to the kinds of obvious and subtle changes.
30-yrs ago, you didn't "nuke" dinner; microwaves hadn't been invented.
30-yrs ago, you couldn't make a phone call from your car -- cell phones
hadn't been invented, cordless phones for the house hadn't been
invented, and most public phones were in booths.
30-yrs ago, you didn't waste time on the web -- personal computers
hadn't
been invented yet.
30-yrs ago, you worried about scratching your favorite LP or snarling
your cassette tape, because CDs hadn't been invented yet.
30-yrs ago, you couldn't tape a program to play later, VCRs hadn't been
invented yet.
