Hi all,
I just want to tell you about the Adirondack Scout Camps in the
Adirondack Mountains in upstate New York. The ASC is actually three
summer camps owned by Hiawatha Seaway Council.
The Sabattis Scout Reservation, the premier wilderness camp in the
Northeast United States, is located between Long Lake and Tupper Lake
and is geared for traditional Patrol camping. All camping there is in
tents set on platforms. It also features immediate access to 100,000+
acres of state land in the Adirondack Park for an overnight camp as part
of your summer camp program. You can leave right from camp either by
canoe or by foot. Sabattis offers a full summer camp program.
The Adirondack Trek Camp is head quartered at Sabattis. If you want
an extended trek that's the place to go! We can outfit you with guides,
canoes, tents, stoves, and food and provide transportation to your trail
head. All you'd need is your personal gear.
Camp Portaferry, located near Harrisville, NY, is our dining hall
camp. It offers a full in camp program. Camping there is in tents on
platforms or in lean-tos.
If any of you want more information about any of the camps you can
either e-mail me or write to:
Hiawatha Seaway Council
113 Twin Oaks Drive
Syracuse, NY, 13206
We are in the process of creating a new web site at cnyscouts.org
but it isn't up and running yet. We anticipate the formal kickoff
sometime in mid October and there will be lots of ASC information there.
YIS,
Ted Holz
