Awesome Experience

Scouting and its web footed program, the Sea Scouts are alive
and well in 1999. There are incredible amounts of exciting
activities being enjoyed by the members of the Sea Scout ships
and Venturing Crews of the BSA's Venturing Division.

The "GOOD OLD DAYS" are today!!!

The first of a series of "cool" stuff enjoyed by "Senior Scouts"
follows:

Sinnissippi Sea Scout Squadron's Sea Scout Ship Rock Aqua Jays (50)
travelled to Liyang, Jiangsu, China last April. Ship 50 was the
first foreign water ski team to ever perform in China.

The 1999 Zheng Chang Cup was held in conjunction with a biannual tea
festival. Over 80,000 people attended the opening ceremonies.
Thousands of doves, balloons and pigeons were released. No
moment of the competition had less than 20,000 spectators.

SSS Rock Aqua Jays sampled fish head soup (very delicious) and
many other exotic delicacies.

Ship 50 ended the competition with Best Male All around Performer,
Best Female Show Performer, Best Male Show Performer, 3rd in Female
Jumping, 3rd in Men's Slalom, 2nd in Men's Jumping, and 3rd in Men's
Jumping. That led to the incredibly exciting CHAMPIONSHIP of the
1999 Zheng Chang Cup!!!

That gave the ship's company the incentive to become win the
1999 USA National Junior Water-skiing Championship team.

I guess that shows that Scouting is fun, educational and
challenging. Morality seems to be relevant to our young men and
women!!!

Past Central Flotilla Commodore
Aide to the Commodore of the Sea Scout Fleet, BSA
