This is my first listing and I thought this event might be of interest
to some of my fellow scouters. Discover Cahokia Mounds - Prehistoric
Lifeways - September 11-12, 10-4pm. Come see how people managed to survive
1,000 years ago. You can learn to make bows and arrows, blowguns and atatls.
You can discover the secrets of everything from hidework, pottery and
dressmaking to flintknapping and wigwam construction. Those of you who want
to relax can enjoy basket weaving or kick back and watch spearthrowing
competition. And each afternoon you can witness real Native American
performances by the Choctaw Dance troupe and the Haskell Indian Nations
University Performers. Who knows, they might have held dances like this
1,000 years ago-right in your backyard. Just 10 min from the Arch in
Collinsville, IL. From St. louis take i-55/70 to exit 6. Oi-255 at Exit 24.
For info call 618-346-5160.
