Cool Scouts Poster- I got bad new I got good news

Robert Wright (rayadorob@YAHOO.COM)
Thu, 29 Jul 1999 20:44:47 -0700

When I returned from a week in NJ I had a reply
from BSA; they "respectfully declined my request"
citing their exclusive right to use the emblems,
badges, etc., while noting the numerous court decision
prohibiting commercial exploitation of these emblems,
badges, etc. In my communications to BSA, I had
stressed that this was being done by Scouters (me) for
Scouters at no cost.
I understand that they don't know me from Adam &
want
to protect the BSA image. All I wanted to do was get a
very useful poster re-printed for use by all councils,
not just urban ones. That is still my goal.
So, I consulted Mike Walton. He suggested
approaching my Council Scouting Exec. about doing this
poster in-council. Once done, other councils (thats
all you folks) could also use the poster.
I would like input, especially from Longhorn Council
Listers (Sarah Nunez, Olan Watkins-are your reading
this?) as to suggestions on approaching our SE.
Should i stay with my idea of keeping it in a
digital format, or do I got for printed? If the
latter, do I ask the Council to pay for it, or try to
drum up the funds?
I had really hoped to have this together for
everybody's School Nite. Silly me.
