Outdoor Retailer Show in Salt Lake City Aug 12 - 15

Ed Henderson (biged@SCOUTER.COM)

I was wondering if anyone from the list will be attending or exhibiting
with a company at the National Outdoor Retailer Show in Salt Lake City at
the Salt Palace in mid August. I have gone for the past three years and
would like to Network with anyone with a Scouting background who will be
there.

For all of those on the list interested who have never heard of the show...
it is everyone and anyone involved in outdoor industry....all of the
Jansports, Eurekas, Keltys, etc. as well as the buyers for everyone from
BSA Supply Division, Wal-Mart, Campmor, etc. even SCOUTER Magazine's humble
little 1-800-SCOUTER Catalog division (okay with "Big Ed" perhaps not sooo
little after all :-). There are over 800 booths this year as well as a
tent city outside.

UNFORTUNATELY....<<I know I'll be asked so I will say it here>> it is NOT
open to the public (if so I suspect every Scout Leader in America would try
and get a pass). Every year as I walk the isles I keep asking myself how
many of these people who represent the outdoor industry had their first
camping experience, or first outdoor meal with a Scout Troop. I am sure
many of the manufacturer reps backpacking shop proprietors, manufacturers,
etc. would raise their hand and recall many warm memories of their Scouting
days.

If YOU are going to be at OR Summer Show '99, please drop me a private
e-mail (off the list please). Those of us at SCOUTER Magazine would love
to see you! I will probably also be visiting the Great Salt Lake & Utah
National Parks Scout Offices if I get time.

Can't wait to go, snow capped mountains & far away from this awful Kansas
City HEAT WAVE UGGGHHHHH!

YIS,
