Congratulations on probably one of the best jobs in Scouting.
Through pizazz, planning, and promoting, you have the best way to meet and
influence the quality of BS & CS programs in your district !!!!!!!!!!!! and
probably council.
Aim # 1, put together your own team of dependable, unique,
council-friendly, and enthusiastic scouters working with Cub Scouting & Boy
Scouting.
Places to look:
a) successful units,
b) units who dependably participate in distict/council activities,
c) adults who recently completed training in last year or two,
d) retired SM's & CM's who may not have the same young family syndrome as
many of us do.
Aim #2, put together a calling tree/visiting team of sorts (staffed by
trainers-to-be) to politely get in the face of units whose adults need
training & go for all registered positions (+ committee on the belief that
to be informed one must be informed).
Aim #3, put together a regular council newsletter feature as THE place to
look for upcoming training & trained recognition information.
Aim #4, work with and or develop the services needed to attract audiences
a) Tot-lot for CS leader Training
b) Combined weekend training options to serve the whole family:
- DenChief + CS or BS training
- BS single weekend format
- Advanced seminar training in skills + CS or BS training
- Road show crew & format to take Webelos Outdoor, CS Ldr, or Youth
Protection training to unit committee meeting sites.
Aim #5, promote, promote, promote & be excited to meet the few or many that
attend.
As for resources over and beyond the syllabi:
Resource #1: get ahold of the BS pub #34729 Highlights..Training Committee
Overview
Resource #2: ditto of the BS pub #34169A Leadership Training Committee Guide
Resource #3: ditto leaders with their own trailers of display items & tried
& true experiences
Resource #4: Most current set of BSA training videos and graphics.
Resource #5: Perks to reward unit participation.
Hope this helps,
