FW: USSSP Suggestion 99-305 - Service Project Idea

Michael Bowman (mfbowman@USSCOUTS.ORG)
Sun, 2 May 1999 10:30:40 -0400

Hi folks,

We get lots of suggestions via our website and this is one that I thought I
would share with you. Our visitor suggested a shore preservation project
specific to New York, but the idea would probably be applicable to many
shoreline areas.

If you are interested in doing such a project, you will need to first talk
with the state agency in your area that manages environmental matters. In
most states there is a "Shoreline Management Act" that regulates what
restoration can take place. In some areas restoration is encouraged and in
others it is prohibited.

Mike
