Re: Contingency Funding of District Events

As I stated in an earlier post, our longhorn Council has a 15%
contingency fee. As Marcel stated, it is good business practice.
Face it, sooner or later, an event isn't going to make it, financially.
The contingency funds, used correctly, enable the Council to pay off
the oustanding bills & prevent our suppliers & service providers from
getting burned.
Is 15% enough? Is 20% too much? Beats me!
But, recent postings mentioned overpriced meals & other deceptive
practices, sometimes in addition to the fee. In the words of Gomer
Pyle- "For shame, for shame" on Councils that try to make money off of
their volunteers and Scouts
