Since WWII, women have become a part of the workforce, charging out of the
traditional roles of their mothers. And it has not been the same since.
Though I am a baby boomer, I am old fashioned in that I wish we could indeed
go back to those times when men and women fulfilled their Bibical roles as
God intended. Does this mean that I think that women cannot do what men can?
NO! Just that I believe that the good Lord meant for men and women to
fulfill different roles than what they do today.
We have 2 troops which are led by women scoutmasters who do a fine job.
However, their boys display much more affection toward their scoutmasters
than boys do in a troop led by a male scoutmaster. There is not as much
advancement as in the other troops, the membership is much smaller, and there
does not seem to be as much emphasis on scouting skills. However, these
troops do participate in virtually every district and council event.
Boys need male role models--proper male role models--to teach them values, to
teach them how to deal with other people, to teach them how to deal with the
world.
It is time for Dads to start fulfilling their responsibilities toward their
children.
