I'm Never Alone

As a boy I was taught that I should be strong,
To never, ever admit when I'm wrong.
As a boy I was taught that I should not fear,
Stand up like a man, and don't be a queer.
As a boy I was taught that my thoughts were a sin,
If my mind was impure, it is hell I'd be in.
As a boy I was taught that God judged from his throne,
But God don't you know that I feel all alone?
I felt incomplete, I can't do anything right,
So I turned to drugs in search of a light.
It started with some, then it got to be more,
I finally found what I was looking for.
I felt complete for a very short time,
All that I needed was just one more dime.
Before I knew what it was I became,
I felt hopeless, helpless, and all full of shame.
Just when I thought my life's at an end,
Out of the darkness I discovered a friend.
With help I was lifted from the depths of hell,
I found lots of people to help me get well.
They taught me to crawl and then how to walk,
The boy inside me they would help me unlock.
Sometimes it's easy, and sometimes it's not,
But it's always OK if I use what I was taught
And then one day I grew up from a boy,
I became a man and experienced joy.
As a man I have learned to always be strong,
God has a plan and he won't steer me wrong.
As a man I have learned there's no reason to fear,
To trust in god, he is always right here.
As a man I have learned that my thoughts are not fact,
I still have a choice on how I can act.
As a man I have learned that God has no throne,
And because of this I AM NEVER ALONE.
