A year ago SCOUTER Magazine invited Michael Gurian to talk with us about
his book "The Wonder of Boys." At that point Mr. Gurian had very little
contact with Scouting but through a series of interviews between our
publisher Terry Howerton and Mr. Gurian, he became quite interested in
Scouting as a valuable resource for todays youth.
We too were delighted to see Scouting Magazine pick up this theme as a
cover story, picking up on a Scouting angle we cracked as a new story a
year earlier. If anyone would like a sample of the article of SCOUTER that
had this article in it, please send me your address and I will mail you a
copy. We also have his book, "The Wonder of Boys" available for $13.95.
You can get this book now by going to our backpack:
http://catalog.scouter.com/
Clicking on the backpack and entering in the item code for the book (# 3092).
In his latest book "Fine Young Men" Terry Howerton is quoted on the back
cover of the paperback edition and we were especially pleased to see Gurian
speak at length about Scouting in the text.
Gurian has been featured as part of a Newsweek cover story and always is
popular on the news shows, especially after a tragedy like the one in
Littleton Colorado. I think it is great that such a visible expert on Male
Adolescent Psychology has been so sensitized over the past few years to
Scouting's benefits, he becomes a forceful advocate for our movement. He
is always on the road speaking in different cities, if he is in yours I
would recommend going to one of his book signings.
*** I will say this here so no one will need to e-mail me and inquire ***
We are working to get the next edition of SCOUTER printed & mailed, we DO
have it now on-line on our web site at http://www.SCOUTER.com. Subscribers
can go to the link at the top of our homepage to get their pass key to view
all of the contents on-line. We are working to get the resources to
publish this issue and mail it to everyone as soon as possible.
