Women in scouting...

I don't know that I would use any language that would seem to exclude women
in a scouting program. Women can add to a program just as much as any man.

The important thing to remember though would be to consider the importance
of "male" role-models in the lives of young men in this age group. The young
men need adult males and their examples to teach them what it really means
to be a "man".

We all learn by examples, and it is difficult for a woman to teach a boy
certain aspects of how to be a man via "example", just as a man cannot teach
a boy what is expected of a man from a woman's point of view adequately. Who
could argue that one gender could provide as much perspective for a boy as
well as what could be provided by two?

To exclude women from a program would be tragic. Many of the best teachers
and leaders are women. The role of example may fall towards the
responsibility of male leaders primarily for reasons of gender
identification.
