My flight time was changed so I can respond to this
posting.
The description of the unorganized and organized militia"
is in the Public Law. The unorganized militia "The People
'risen up armed..." is the pool from which conscription
was drawn. (Article I authority) The "organized" militia
is a concept that was not truly developed until the early
20th Century. Unlike the "unorganized militia", it has
been placed under governmental authority for training
purposes.
The details are not in the Constitution other than it is
"necessary" and needs free access to arms in order to be
"well equipped" ("Well regulated" in the language of the
late 18th Century.)
Again, read the article by the ACLU's Professor Sanford
Levinson in the Yale Law Review for clarification.
Neither side should look for what isn't there!!!
Emotion and opinion are certainly wonderful but have no
standing! :-)
The only thing sicker than the acts of last week is the
effort by those with a political agenda to capitalize on
the tragedy for their own purposes. The bodies aren't
even all in the ground and there are calls for all kinds
of legislation.
For shame, suffering people need time to grieve. We all
need to know what has really happened.
For one, this is my last response to this thread.
Let us think about how Scouts were the heroes!!!
