I have two self-inflators. Different lengths, thicknesses, and weight.
On base/car-camping occasions I use the full length, 2" pad.
On treks, such as Philmont, I use the 2/3 length, 1 1/2" pad which
weighs half as much.
Where ounces count, or when exhaustion also induces sleep, the latter
suffices. Both insulate you well from the ground.
As much as I love "Campmor", you can often get the same products with
cosmetic blemishes (but fully reliable), at a good discount, from
catalog companies such as "Sierra"
