Hi,
I just returned finished Medicine Drum (Adult Leader Training)yesterday
. Our trainers brought along a perfect example of why not to get the
self-inflating pads - a pad with a bad valve, rolled up as best it could
be, but still puffed up rather grotesquely.
I bought three self inflating pads (Slumberjack) four years ago. One
valve has already gone bad. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. A
self-inflating pad with a malfunctioning valve doesn't provide much
comfort, even if it does add another layer between you and the ground.
My son and I on our way to buy foam pads this afternoon. (Ye Olde Scout
Fair this weekend. My husband will be coming. He won't be a happy
camper if he gets the pad with the bad valve.) Their rolled diameter
isn't much larger that the rolled diameter of the self inflating pads.
- Tee
