Patrol Camping

Hi All

Our Troop experimented with Patrol Campouts about two years ago and they have
been very popular with the Scouts. The Patrols are responsible for planning,
tour permits and adults. The PLC and SM have to approve the plan and tour permit
before they go. The Patrols usually pick biking, fishing or something like that
as a theme. They function basically as a Patrol but don't worry about
inspections or Troop program which they look at as freedom. We have averaged one
Patrol campout a year but the PLC is thinking about one ever six months. I (SM)
try to visit as many camps as possible as my time will allow.

I would love to let the Patrols camp without adults like my dad did when he was
a SPL, but we are uncomfortable about it right now. Still they have a great
time.
