Chuck,

Thanks for supporting the commissioners, but we are not Members of
Committee in the units we serve, nor, for that matter, are all CRs. The
other thing we are not is spies for district/council. As others have pointed
out we are generally silent unless asked a question or if we see where the
unit might violate BSA rules/regulations. There is another time I'm not
silent; that's whenever I get the chance to heap praise on a unit leader who
deserves it, especially if I can do it in front of all the adults at a pack
meeting or troop court of honor.
I have the e-mail addresses of several unit leaders (I work with five
units) and they have mine. I don't expect to be included on every bit of
electronic correspondence that goes on in each unit any more than I would
expect to be on a 3-way phone call every time two unit leaders decided to
talk to each other. But I do receive newsletters from those units that have
them and regular notes from those that don't.
And I correspond regularly with a couple of leaders via e-mail, both in
regard to unit activities and, in one case, our mutual involvement in OA.
