Re: Uncool Scouts

As for the uncool scouts, I will comment here:

I am 16, a junior in high school. Just recently, I have picked Scouting
back up after about a year of being almsot nonexistant at my troop. I
earned my Eagle, got elected to OA, went through the boy version of Wood
Badge,and was elected SPL.

I found myself increasingly proud of what I was doing. I began to ENJOY
it (this coming from someone who had not really ever taken scouting
seriously before...), and I still enjoy it after almost 9 months of being
highlyactive (I have an 80% attendence record). And I don't care who
knows anymore. I find a lot of people are impressed with me, now that I
have my Eagle. Once they find out that I'm sticking with it after that
"final point" to most, they are even more impressed. I was surprised with
the positive reaction I got when people found out I am a boy scout.

Although, I will say that I remember in middle school when it was a very
harsh mark on your "popularity level" to be a boy scout.
