For anyone interested, the Bluejackets' Manual is still in use. I
still have mine (from almost 10 years ago), and I know it's still
available from Navy Exchanges. A local recruiter might be able to help
you get a copy, and there are probably plenty of them available
through thrift shops and old book stores. It is, as I was told on Day
One, everything a sailor needs to know. (I've also heard it described
as "everything a sailor needs to know, but doesn't.") I guess I'll
have to dig it out and see what I've forgotten.
