Stocking First Aid Kits

I am asking for the wisdom of the list on a question that will be brought up
at an upcoming parents meeting (Apr 19). Some members of the committee are
thinking that the troop first aid box should contain items such as asprin,
tylenol, ibuprofin, antiacid (pepcid ac) and other over the counter drugs
for dispensing to scouts. I have been a leader for close to ten years and I
was always told during training (CSBLT, WLOT, SMF, etc.) that giving over
the counter drugs to scouts is a big, big no-no.
My problem is this, I have looked in the Guide to Safe Scouting and other
books that I have, and can find no reference to this or anything other then
prescription drugs. Can one of you please help me out. I would really like
to present an opposing view at the meeting this Monday. Any and all help
will be appreciated. I don't recall seeing a thread along this line so maybe
we can start something new.
Yours in Scouting,
