To Mark and all others on list;
Finally got the Committee to agree to a complete and full ban on these
at the last Committee Meeting. Used the arguement that they have nothing to
do with Scout Skills, that there is the 'remote' possibility of vision
damage, and they are nothing but a distraction, especially when used after
lights out on a campout. At Monday nights meeting I asked if any of the boys
had these, either at home or on them (know for a fact that at least 4 of the
boys have them). When I got the affirmative from a few, I laid down the law
as decided by the Committee that they do NOT come to any Scout activity, and
that bringing them would result in confiscation and they would only get them
back after they brought a parent in to retrieve it.
Thought I was going to get some grief from them about this, but they all
accepted this with no problem, so far<grin>. Young Troop, but they are
starting to understand Scouting and our (the greybeards) concern for safety.
Now if I could only get them to use Woods Wisdom this easily<really big
grin>.
