In our troop, only a few years old, the issue has never come up. We did
four second class board of review last weekend, and each of the boys had
enough accumulated service hours to get them through Life if it were
allowed. All of this was done by participating in troop service
projects - cleaning up a garbage strewn stretch of riverfront, acting as
waiters at a halloween and a Christmas party for mentally challenged
adults, running the games and activities for a pack party. If the boys
participate in the troop service activities, they will always have far
more then the required number of service hours. If they don't have the
service hours, the troop isn't doing enough community service.
