Do you like
camping, cooking, backpacking?
being outdoors?
working with young people?

The Bay Lakes Council has just the thing for you in August--a course called
Outdoors Skills Instructor (OSI). This is a national BSA course as attended
by some of our staff at Philmont. It has been tailored to the needs of Bay
Lakes Council and will happen August 12 - 15 1999 (Thursday evening to late
Sunday afternoon) at Camp Maywood Wilderness (near Wautoma, Wisconsin). The
cost is $70 if paid before July 1st. ($75 after). Included in the fee are 5
of the BSA OSI manuals at a cost of $25. The best part of OSI is the food.
Let me just say we will eat well!

The course is designed to take the skills you learned in Scoutmaster Basic
Leader Training and expand them to higher levels. WE will be doing things
you have read about but perhaps not tried. This is a time to share you
special skills and learn from others. The format will be a high-adventure
type with crews of 6. With all the fun we still manage to teach yo how to
teach the outdoor skills to others.

If you know all this already then come for the fun, fellowship, and food.

"Best training course I've attended" -- G.H. Asst. SM T-836

This is a great course, and I don't just say that because I'm on staff. We
have a lot of fun & there's a lot of good information given out.

Wautoma is a couple of hours drive from Madison, a little more from
Milwaukee, and a long half-day from the Twin Cities.

If you want any information I can try to answer your questions or can give
you the name/number of the course director (didn't think he'd want his phone
number all over the internet.
