Re: The Meaning of the word "Two (or to) at the end of the Pledge

The word is indeed "two" and comes from the military. In performing
some drill movements, one could have the individual or unit do the
movement "by the numbers." The initial movement would be done at the
initial command and all other movements would execute on the called
out number ("two," "three," etc.) The hand salute is a two count
movement. On the command of execution (Scout Salute) all would
salute. The "two" causes the hand to return to the position of
attention. Calling the commands in this manner gets everyone to move
at the sametime.
