LEADER APPS BACKGROUND CHECKS

I have read all the post on this subject and there are many good ideas. I
would recommend calling the references and talking to them. Ask them for
additional references and check with them. Also check with neighbors. Ask the
reference if they believe the person would be a good, safe leaders for
children. Also ask "would you trust your children with him or her?" This
brings it home to everyone and they will generally give you their honest
feelings.

While most police department can't release criminal history info still check
with them. Some may be able to provide some info. The best place to find the
public records are at the county court clerks office. In most cases you can
find traffic violations, arrest, dispositions, protective orders, and civil
law suits. This is generally only in your county and not others. If your
application ask for past address find a scouting representative in that county
or state and seek their help. In KY sex offenders must register, so ask your
police department where you can inquire.

All this checking doesn't mean some problems will not slip through. I think
two deep leadership is the best protection for everyone.
