Marcel is right. If the adults group together and make a joke out of
being a patrol, the Scouts won't find much use for working together as a
group either. If, however, the adults actually function as a patrol
(each member having a distinct responsibility, working together to get
the job done), the Scouts will have a real example to follow.

There's nothing wrong with having an "Old Goat" patrol as long as the
"Old Goats" actually make it a patrol. If they just hang around the
coffee pot telling "war" stories, it will be hard to get the Scouts to
stop doing similar things.
