There are concerns in both cases. I believe lead fishing weights have been
banned in most, if not all, areas of the U.S. (as they have been banned in
shotgun shells) because animals that we eat have ingested the lead.
And hobbyists know well how difficult it can be to work with lead-free
solder, but that's all that is available in most shops.
