Just got another idea for Blue & Gold from a long retired Den Mother (yes
that was the term back in the 60's). Mom still is thinking of Scouting
though she's nearly 70. :-)) She suggests that back when Cubs had a lot of
fun with a Blue and Gold where the tables were organized not by dens but by
birthday month. Apparently, the idea was to have a table for each month
with a birthday cake for that month. Each cake had one of the twelve points
of the Scout Law on it to help the Lions/Webelos learn the law for Boy
Scouting. Each cake had surprises buried inside - little compasses,
whistles, and such. Everyone sang happy birthday to BSA and then another
round for everyone that had a birthday during the year. Apparently there
was also a rule that you had to stay in you seat or no cake and treats. ;-))
Well anyhow that's an idea from 35 or so years ago.
