Help with B&G

OK I must admit I'm kind of behind on Scouts_L these days (over 600
messages to still read) but I saw this and I had to let everyone know
what we do.

We are a very small pack unlike yours but some of our ideas might work
for you. We have a birthday party every year for our B&G. OK that's not
exactly right we have a BIG party. We go all out for our birthday. One
of the things that we do that might help you keep the kids busy is we
cover our tables with butcher paper and every table has crayons in a cup
or other container, decorated of course, available. You could get some
sort of friendly contest going and see who can come up with best drawing
of a camping scene or a picture of their favorite thing they have done
this year, etc... The possibilities are endless.

If I were in your shoes and had that many kids to deal with I would have
some sort of game available for them to play when they were done eating.
In your situation choose one that doesn't require much room and only one
or two adults to supervise. Rotate the adults so everyone has time to
spend with their families and has a chance to eat.

If your serving buffet style make sure there are two lines, one on each
side of the table. Keep them moving. We also try and have as much stuff
on the tables as we can. Silverware napkins etc.. Another thing that
might help save time is to have the drinks ready when they come through
the line. We put our drinks away from the food so the line keeps moving
and doesn't get bottle necked because of people getting drinks.

I hope this helps you have a more peaceful and successful B & G.
