DESERVE TO BE OFFENDED?

A MAJOR SNIP

> The above will be see as a flame by many, but guess what...I DON"T
CARE.
> If what I said offends you, then in my opinion you deserve to be >
offended.

Author name snipped

WHOA! HOLD THE PHONE! WAIT A DING DANGED MINUTE!
I have said nothing derogatory about the military, and I hold no
derogatory views of the military, but I DESERVE to be offended if the
(in my view) hostile tone in a post offends me?

I have noticed an increase (again, my view)in hostile tones in posts
in the past week or so, not here only on Scouts-L, but on other lists
I frequent for the value of the content.

I had tried to pass it off the hostility increase as winter blues,
holiday bills reaching the home front, work pressures, concerns about
family members, youth in a troop, etc.

But, and perhaps I am simply tired today, it really hit me in a bad
way to see that I DESERVE to be offended if I don't agree with the
harsh manner in which someone attempts to make a point.

I choose to disagree with the author. What I deserve is to open a
post on a list like Scouts-L without repeatedly getting hit in the
face with hostile words
and being told if it bugs me, that's just toooo bad.

Can we PLEASE all agree we do not truly wish to transform do a good
turn daily into TAKE A HARD SLAP.
