Hi all,
I would agree with Scott with one major exception--camping while a cub
scout DOES NOT count toward camping MB. The camping must be done while
the individual working on the badge is a boy scout, just like on any
other merit badge. A kid who collects 10 plant samples as a Bear cub
cannot get this requirement signed off for 1C when he shows up at his
first troop meeting! The principle is exactly the same for MBs.
Otherwise, I agree with SCott's assessment that most other types of
camping trips count. But again, as a counselor, I have the final say if
the kid fulfills the requirements or not. I can and do try to treat each
kid fairly, and I think I usually succeed at this. It ailn't always
easy, however.
